Travis Balcke

Travis Balcke is one of Australia’s leading stylists with an international career spanning two decades behind the scenes of some of the world’s most prestigious fashion brands, editorial publications and famous celebrities.

Working backstage for the likes of John Galliano at Maison Margiela to Thom Browne, Balcke is a familiar face for many of the world’s top models – Gigi Hadid, Romee Strijd, Joan Smalls, among others, have had their hair tended to by Balcke before hitting the runway.

Balcke is responsible for managing Eugene Souleiman’s experienced team of up to 32 stylists at these shows whilst working directly with the designers, stylists and make-up artists. From his experience regularly styling these haute couture, ready-to-wear and men’s collections during Paris, Milan and New York fashion weeks, Balcke is an example of pressure creating diamonds.

“The start of the shows is a mad rush of momentum and I’ve had to master creating ninety styles in three hours. You’ve got to make it happen and make it happen in a matter of minutes. The critical difference with hair is there is no post-production – it has to be perfect in the moment. My show experience has gifted me with a depth of confidence in the level of diversity I can create in styling.”

He has been trusted by a long list of Australian stars including Cate Blanchett, Megan Gale, Jennifer Hawkins, Nicole Kidman and Elizabeth Debicki. Internationally, Balcke is often called up for events such as the Met Gala or Cannes Film Festival and has worked with a list of international names from Lady Gaga to Gwyneth Paltrow.

Balcke is the man behind Lara Worthington’s iconic ‘Bingle Bob’, made famous on the cover of Elle in 2014.If you open a fashion magazine, you’re likely to come across Balcke’s creations on the covers or pages of local Australian and international publications such as Harper’s Bazaar or Vogue.

Daren Borthwick

A major contemporary talent, Daren Borthwick, took the time to learn every aspect of his craft including cutting, styling and make-up before engaging a successful career abroad.

His international reputation deepened working on both the European and New York shows working for Victor and Rolf, Roberto Cavalli, Saint Laurent, Gucci, Celine, Kenzo, Max Mara, Ungaro, Philosophy and Givenchy among others.

Borthwick describes his work as “sculptural and holistic”.  His conception for hair is always related to the total look – “everything begins with the eyes, the structure of the face, the proportion of the body”.  Radical transformation and originality are his signature.

On a Borthwick shoot brunettes go blonde, runway models become surrealist painted statues to chromed scandinavian factory girls, original looks are born and celebrities on the wilder side of their personal style. “My palette is very broad, yet whatever the brief… I like to create something, and always be moving forward. I like a challenge.”

Awarded the Hair Expo Session Stylist of the year for an exceptional three times Borthwick has worked with some of the world’s most iconic faces. Borthwick attributes his ability to adapt and create to the depth of his training. “Perhaps my strength is the fact that I know there is no single aesthetic for hair and that fashion is secondary to original beauty. Sometimes my work is spontaneous and creative, sometimes it is strategic but I’m always pushing for the boldest looks, tactile sensuality and a statement. The real joy of great hair is the chance to take it somewhere else, somewhere higher! ”With countless covers and editorials to his credit, Borthwick’s clients include Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire, Hermes, Harrolds, Westfield, Kailis Pearls, Zimmermann, Goldwell & David Jones. He has had the pleasure working on the locks of celebrities such as Kylie Minogue, Dawn French, Abbey Lee, Nicole Kidman, Kim Kardashian, Erin Wasson, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Elle Macpherson, Rose Byrne, Natalie Imbruglia and Jessica Mauboy to name but a few.”

Keiren Street

With an outstanding ability to translate the international catwalk trends and apply them to a discerning local clientele, as well as creating original looks for campaigns, editorial and shows – he has established himself as an outstanding, contemporary hair stylist in great demand.

Keiren is passionate about his craft and believes the hair should speak for itself and not overwhelm – yet it never goes unnoticed because great hair always forms an integral part of the overall image.  A true collaborator, he is highly adept at interpreting every brief and creating standout looks from the creative to the more commercial.

His inspiration comes from working on shows both in Australia and internationally having been Hair Director for Myer from 2005 to 2009, MBFW from 2002 and more recently Hair Director for Toni Maticevski at Paris FW 17 and Alice McCall NYC 18. Street has also worked on Eugene Souilman’s esteemed team at Paris FW.

One of a team of four internationally appointed brand ambassadors for Dyson Supersonic and Creative Director for Cloud Nine ANZ – big name brands long for the association and star quality that Xydis brings to the table.

Xydis is constantly evolving & harnessing her creativity & skill, only to be celebrated and captured some of the world’s leading publications from iconic Vanity Fair, Vogue and Harpers Bazaar both locally and in international platforms. Xydis works with a wide diaspora of the world’s leading celebrities and including Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman, Selma Hayek, Eva Mendes, Heidi Klum, Margot Robbie, Naomi Watts, to name a select few.

Xydis is a pioneer in hair for some the world’s leading brands and photographers. Her work backstage on the international fashion circuit with world’s most prestigious hairdressers in Paris, Milan and New York from 1988 to present, has established Xydis as a master of the runway.
